Invitation for Applications External Members for the Audit Committee

The Limestone District School Board is seeking community members with strong financial expertise and business acumen to serve as external members of its Audit Committee for a three‑year term beginning September 2026.

The Audit Committee consists of three Trustees and two independent community members. Its mandate is to assist the Board of Trustees in fulfilling its governance and oversight responsibilities. Key areas of responsibility include:

  • Oversight of the financial reporting process
  • Review of the internal control framework
  • Monitoring risk management practices
  • Evaluation of the performance of internal and external auditors
  • Ensuring compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements

The Committee meets three times per year. Orientation materials are provided to support new members in understanding the role and responsibilities of audit committees within the school board sector.

Candidate Eligibility

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Demonstrated experience in accounting, senior financial management, or relevant business fields, with the ability to understand public‑sector accounting and auditing standards.
  • Must not be a current employee or officer of the Limestone District School Board or any other district school board or school authority.
  • Must not have a parent, child, or spouse currently employed by the Limestone District School Board.
