This week our boys' and girls' soccer teams travelled to John Machin Field, where they had a fun and successful day representing LSPS against other schools. On Thursday we were delighted to watch our Talent Show performances, which were all spectacular! Congratulations to all participants and thanks to all coaches and staff who give up their time to make these events possible. Our track and field team is practicing every day ahead of their Regional meet on June 4, and our grade 6 and 3 students have begun the EQAO provincial assessments. Next week, we would like to wish an Eid Mubarak to all of our families who are celebrating Eid al-Adha. The decision to cancel buses is made by TriBoard, in consultation with the Limestone District School Board, early in the morning. When buses are cancelled in the morning they are cancelled for the full day. We will send an email to families in the morning when buses are cancelled, but you can also sign up for notifications at <a href="https://triboard.ca/snowdays/" rel="noreferrer" class="editor-link">https://triboard.ca/snowdays/</a> . Please remember that if you drive your children to school on inclement weather days our supervision begins at 8:45 a.m. and students must be picked up by 3:30. If they are staying home due to weather or bus cancellations, please report the absence through SafeArrival to avoid an attendance call. <hr><h2 class="editor-heading-h2" dir="ltr">Dress for the weather!</h2>Families are reminded that we have 50 minutes of outdoor recess every day. To help ensure school and student safety and to minimize disruptions, parents/caregivers are not allowed to go down to classrooms during the school day. If you need to pick your child up early from school, please notify the office before 3:15. Charitable Gaming fundraising</h2>Through our School Council, Lord Strathcona is a proud participant of Charitable Gaming! Through funds raised at Play! Gaming and Entertainment Centre we are able to continue our important work supporting students. Money raised from this partnership goes to covering a variety of expenses, including yard equipment and paying for buses for all our field trips! Last Friday was a great track and field day for all grade 3-6 students, with many of our primary classes coming out to watch and cheer on their siblings and friends. This week we had students travel to LCVI for the road race on Wednesday and Queens for the Basketball tournaments on Thursday. Congratulations to all athletes for your hard work and for representing the school so well, and thanks to all coaches for volunteering your time to work with these students! We wrapped up the week today with our second Fruity Friday - thanks School Council for this delicious treat!G. In the middle of all that fun and activity we are focused on finishing the year strong academically, with important math and literacy learning along with content in all the other subjects. <h2 class="editor-heading-h2">Technical Advisory Group (TAG) is Seeking Expression of Interest</h2>The Limestone District School Board is seeking expressions of interest from <a href="about:blank" class="editor-link">individuals</a><a href="#_msocom_1" class="editor-link">[EL1]</a>  interested in joining the Technical Advisory Group (TAG) in support of the ongoing Student Census 2025 project.The purpose of the Technical Advisory Group is to provide advice, perspectives, and recommendations related to the design of data collection methods, analysis, and the representation of results for LDSB’s Student Census. TAG plays a critical role in ensuring that multiple and diverse perspectives are applied to the interpretation of data, helping to minimize bias and strengthen the relevance and integrity of findings.We are seeking expressions of interest for the committee for the September 2026 to August 2028 term.  We welcome expressions of interest from all members of the Limestone community, including those who can help us fill the following vacancies:<ul class="editor-list-ul"><li value="1" class="editor-listitem">One to two parents of a Limestone student(s) who is not an employee of the LDSB</li><li value="2" class="editor-listitem">A Limestone school administrator</li><li value="3" class="editor-listitem">One or more Limestone secondary students</li><li value="4" class="editor-listitem">One community partner member who works alongside LDSB</li></ul>Experience in data collection, analysis, and/or reporting of identity‑based data is encouraged; however, individuals with a broad range of research or analysis backgrounds and/or lived experiences are encouraged to apply.
