Update Dec. 1, 2021: KFL&A Public Health has identified one positive case in a student at Lord Strathcona Public School on Dec.1: One new cohort has been directed to self-isolate.

An outbreak of COVID-19 was declared at Lord Strathcona Public School on Nov. 30, 2021
. School remains open, however, visitors are restricted at this time.

KFL&A Public Health and the school are taking all necessary steps to prevent further spread of the virus both in the school and the community.

KFL&A Public Health is working with the school to identify cohorts of students and staff who are affected by the positive cases. Not all students will be affected by the outbreak.

Three positive cases in students were identified Nov. 28 This has resulted in two cohorts going into isolation. This brings the number of cases to five. The school remains open.

One positive case of COVID-19 in a student was confirmed on Nov. 23. This case was already isolating and there is no new impact to the school.

This follows the identification of
two positive cases in students on Nov. 22. One case was already isolating and has no further impact on the school, One case has led to one class cohort and one bus cohort being dismissed to isolate and complete testing. These cases do not constitute an outbreak as transmission did not occur at school. The school remains open.

A different student tested positive on Nov. 17 and it was determined that case poses no risk to students or staff. This brings the total of cases at the school to three.

All school families are asked to continue to monitor for symptoms of COVID-19 and screen all students daily as most cases of COVID-19 are acquired in the home setting. KFL&A Public Health is also asking families to use the extended symptom list for monitoring symptoms:
